Spring Baseball

Key Facts:

· In-house league--everyone plays!
· Player assessments take place for AAA, Majors, and Seniors. This is not a tryout. Everyone plays!
· 2024 Opening Day is April 6.
· Practices usually start in-March, after team rosters are available.
· Season kickoff meeting for players' families (a.k.a. orientation) and uniform pickup are held the same day, prior to Opening Day.
· Games are played early April through mid-June (Championship weekend is late May for Seniors league and mid-June for AA, AAA, and Majors.)
· In-house players are eligible to try out for Stars summer travel and Legion teams.

Age-Based Divisions

Mt. Airy Baseball generally has 8-12 teams in each division (league). Players participate in team practices and games.
Based on ages as of May 1, 2024:

T-ball (5-6)
Saturday morning sessions provide an introduction to baseball. Children learn some fundamentals, practice good sportsmanship--and have fun!
Game Location: Mt. Airy Playground
Registration Fee: $60

AA (7-8)
Games are machine pitch. Practices and games allow players to develop fundamental baseball skills. Along with having fun, the focus is on good sportsmanship, work habits, and learning good mechanics and baseball terms, rules, and concepts like team play. Players are assigned to teams by league commissioner.
Game Location: Mt. Airy Playground
Fee: $110

AAA (9-10)
The focus now includes pitching and higher-level aspects of team play. Players take part in an assessment before being assigned to teams by coaches. This supports player development and improves the pace of games. Players participate in assessment day and new players are drafted onto teams by coaches.
Game Locations: Mt. Airy Playground, Finley Playground, and Leeds Field
Registration Fee: $115

Majors (11-12)
Pitching skills are further developed. Coaches continue to focus on good mechanics, accuracy, team play, and good sportsmanship. Players take part in an assessment before being assigned to teams by coaches. Players participate in assessment day and all players are drafted onto teams by coaches.
Game Location: Pleasant Playground
Registration Fee: $120

Seniors (13-15)
Games are played on a regulation field (90 ft. base paths) in all age groups and at all skill levels.
Location: Leeds Field
Registration Fee: $135

Spring registration fee includes:

• Team hat and uniform jersey with number
• Uniform pants (AA-Seniors)
• Player participation trophy (T-ball and AA)
